When did this start?
I've been an endurance athlete since my family got me started running in May, 2012. I thought about beginning a blog then and even registered the domain name Couch2Boston.com but at the time came to the conclusion that I could do things or I could write about things but I wouldn't be successful if I tried to do and write about things at the same time. Over the years I kept revisiting the idea of starting a blog but every time it was after some epic event was finished and, well, does the world really need another adult onset athlete bragging about some accomplishment after it is done? Instead, I kept my head down, trained hard and struggled with only a close group of friends subjected to the occasional race report.
In January 2020 when I was a few weeks into an unconventional start to transition from a triathlete to an ultra-cyclist it occurred to me that this might be the time to bite the bullet and start that blog. In case anyone actually ever finds this thing on my little corner of the interwebs, I took the time to pull race reports out of email and Strava to help show some of what I was like before attempting the tri2bike transition. If nothing else, it gives me a convenient way to relive old memories but I hope a few people out there like it as well.
The result of inputting all of this old content into a new site with a different focus might be convenient for me, but I figured it would be confusing for anyone that happened to stumble on by. This post, conveniently dated to the 19th century 1970 seemed like my best bet of helping any new comers understand when this thing actually started and where all of that old content came from.
In conclusion, I'd just like to say "Hello from the past!"...just not really the19th century past as far back as the date on this post would indicate.
P.S.
I really wanted this to be a post with a publication date of 1899, because, well, I really liked Voyagers when I was a kid, but computers being what they are and the 2038 version of Y2K being what it is it looks like Blogger conforms to the typical epoch of 1/1/1970.
